Intuitive and Natural Interfaces for Geospatial Data Classification
نویسندگان
چکیده
Increasing availability of GPS-enabled devices technically enables a broad variety of people to participate in the volunteered geographic information (VGI) movement and to collect and share information about places and spatial entities. But in order to be useful, geo-data has to be correctly classified, and inexperienced users need assistance to be able to provide correctly classified information, because the classification system is complex and not always intuitive. In this paper, we propose a natural classification approach for spatial entities based on speech recognition and ontological reasoning to allow users to contribute geo-data with as little barriers as possible.

Landslide is one of these natural hazards which causes a great amount of financial and human damage annually allover the world. Accordingly, identification of areas with landslide threat for implementation of preventive measures in order to confront against the instability of hillsides for reduction of potential threats and related risks is very important. In this research a new method for clas...
متن کاملEnabling Ad Hoc Queries over Low-Level Scientific Data Sets
Technological success has ushered in massive amounts of data for scientific analysis. To enable effective utilization of these data sets for all classes of users, supporting intuitive data access and manipulation interfaces is crucial. This paper describes an autonomous scientific workflow system that enables high-level, natural language based, queries over low-level data sets. Our technique in...

In time critical visual analytic environments collaboration between multiple expert users allows for rapid knowledge discovery and facilitates the sharing of insight. New collaborative display technologies, such as multi-touch tables, have shown great promise as the medium for such collaborations to take place. However, under such new technologies, traditional selection techniques, having been ...

In this paper, we report a geospatial assessment of the selected mine sites in the Plateau State, Nigeria. The aim of this work is to determine the impact of mining on the terrain as well as the Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) of the host communities. The Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) is used for the terrain mapping. The derived impact of mining on LULC between 1975 and 2014 is determined...
